Our youth are getting ever so close to our goal for all kids to go on all the trips. We had another successful fundraiser this past Saturday, and yet another youth event where everyone wound up soaked head to toe. It’s summer time in Phoenix, what do you expect? Blaze better watch his back though, after sneaking up behind me point blank range and nailing me with the water hose. Revenge is coming!!!
We had a good turn out though. Thanks to all the church folks who stopped by to donate to our youth and get their car washed. It was a long tiring day in the sun, but we reaped the benefits of our hard work. One step closer to the Indian reservations!! It’s getting closer and we’re getting all the more excited to see God move in a HUGE way on the reservations.
Props to our awesome youth for working hard and dedicating their time and energy to further the Gospel. Isn’t that the point of all of this anyways. It’s great that our kids know this and are sold-out to God at a young age!! Amen.
We had our second youth summer missions fund raising event this Saturday. We kicked it off on Mother’s Day with a terrific bake sale. Thank you all who donated and purchased the goods. We made some good money to benefit our youth going on these trips this summer.
The yard sale went great. We collected A LOT of items and sold A LOT of stuff. We had honey buns, cinnamon rolls, hot dogs, POP, water and even homemade chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter icing (thanks Blaze!). We met a lot of cool people today, and many fellow Christians. Some even donated specifically for the cause and didn’t even buy anything. So, needless to say, I think in the end, we were all blessed. Those who helped and participated and those who benefited from some good cheap stuff.
Then, the youth may have gotten a little crazy and started throwing each other in the pool. I fended them off as best as I could; at one point four at a time trying. But, I eventually went in. Did I mention we were all in our regular clothes? Wet cargo shorts are HEAVY!!
Thanks again to everyone who helped, donated or bought. It truly was a big blessed exhausting event. Can’t wait for the next time!?!
The past several months of The G8 has just been phenomenal. We’ve already doubled in size and have seen signs of future “harvestees” to come. I, as well as the rest of the youth leaders, have been blessed beyond belief with our youth. They have already blossomed and grown tremendously in just a short amount of time. I credit that to their willing hearts and obedience.
We started off discussing worship which led us into faith. The past month or two we’ve been hitting hard on being a “sell-out” for God, truly being an example of the goodness of God, as well as shining our light for all to see.
As we wrap up the current series we are on, we will be jumping feet first into our in depth training on ministry, salvation and ministry fundamentals. We will be hosting several mission teams from all over the country as we go into several of the Indian reservations in the mountains of Arizona. It is an exciting time and we will be very busy this summer, but we need to be prepared for all the God has in store for us, as well as be in tune to how He will USE us.
More details and schedules will come as they are confirmed. But, please get involved in at least one, if not many of the mission trips planned this year. They will truly change your life. So, prepare your hearts and prepare your minds, because God is alive and moving and is looking for some willing vessels so that He may pour out His spirit upon and through them.
For the last youth event, the guys went out to Glendale for a Dodger game. Although Burgess is a HUGE Dodger fan, they got creamed by the White Sox. We still had fun though. We tailgated in the parking lot. We brought camping chairs, our trusty Coleman camping stove, an actual kitchen stove griddle and about four times as much food as what we needed. Blaze tried his hardest to finish off the burgers though.
We entered the game full of food and excited to see some spring league action. We left the game exhausted and sunburnt, although I think Blaze set a record for autographs in one day. His ball was full of them! We had a blast. Can’t wait until the next youth event.
…and, sorry for not getting any pictures of the girls up. You can yell at Rebekah
We had a great time at the Rock n Worship Road Show tour last month. We saw Tenth Avenue North, Hawk Nelson, Jeremy Camp, Mercy Me and my personal favorite Addison Road. We’ve been praying for years now to see stadiums and arenas filled with the glory of God and to be temples of praise. This was just a glimpse of things to come I believe. It was a powerful night of fellowship, entertainment and most importantly a night of deep worship of the one true God.
I get excited to see the likes of the International House of Prayer and the Passion conferences filling stadiums. One day, I see the half time show at the Super Bowl being a worship leader and instead of fireworks and laser lights, it’ll be Holy fire and the light of God filling the air. That’d be a spectacular show! I think our youth were really touched by the reverent atmosphere of worship and by the spirit of God. I know I was. It was truly a good night in the Lord.
The next youth event will be this Saturday, February 28. We will be going to Golfland for some mini-golf. It costs $6 per person to play a game of mini-golf. Make sure to bring extra money if you want to play any additional games and for food. We’ll meet at Golfland at 5:30. If you need a ride, make sure to let me know and I will arrange transportation for you. I’ll try to get a count of who all will be coming tomorrow at the G8. Hope to see you all there. And, invite your friends!!!! It’s gonna be great.
I just wanted to say thanks to all the youth who showed up and the leaders who helped. Tonight was a blast! What started off as a night of just bowling and pizza turned into an improvisational night to remember featuring a tailgating party in the parking lot of the Brunswick Bowling Alley, a duel between a hostess and a determined bowlee and a jam packed hour and five minutes of bowling. Props to Blaze and Andrea for the high scores of the evening. Overall, it was a great turn out. The Vision was cast to the youth tonight for The G8 and all eyes are set ahead for what’s to come. This is just the beginning, and as fun as tonight was, I know far greater things lie ahead for us. God bless you all!

Welcome to The G8’s brand new website!! What a better way to kick off something new and exciting then to DO something fun and exciting? This Saturday will be our second monthly youth event. We had a blast last time, and expect to have even more fun this time. We will be going bowling at the Brunswick Zone Gilbert, south of Warner on Gilbert road. We’ll meet at the alley at 5:00pm. We’ll bowl for an hour or so, and then grab a bite to eat. The leaders will also be sharing a glimpse of what’s to come for our youth and what exactly The G8 Student Ministries is all about. We live in exciting times, and I’m excited to see our church grow and expand, and especially see our youth be a vital part of that.
We will provide any transportation to and from the alley and restaurant if needed. So, if you need a ride, please call Jessee Lovaas at 480-652-0499. Hope to see you there!
